Any one using one? Would like to hear the pros & cons. Got older model with metal spool. What lb & kind of line do you use? I was told when using mono to back it with dacron. Any idea which rod need to get?
Thanks,KB.

Got 2 of older model with plastic spools. Run 30lb line 3/16in below top edge and 80 gearbox oil. These are better to cast than my modern reels but the downside is the slow retrieve. Best rods are slow action 12 to 13ft otg style - start slow aim high. - ruff-

Have used one for the past thirysome years. I use twentyfive pound test for every day use but have used forty for small sharks. Both cast with ease. The best rod thus far has been a twelve foot St. Croix medium/fast action which handles up to a total weight of eight ounces.
I use the same method that ruffcaster has described for casting, and have been able to hit the two hundred yard mark more often than not.
