Im relatively new to the P&S fishing thing, and make no claims to having alot of knowledge on the best Salt water gear.

But I bought a Penn for one reason.....If I break somthing , it can always be fixed fast.

Penn has parts dealers in most any local fishing town.

Here in Va. Beach ,17th Street tackle carries parts if needed

All the other reels need to be sent off for warrenty repair or you have to wait 2-3 weeks for the parts to come in.

I have Penn 4500 SS that I have used 3-5 times a week for 2 years, strictly saltwater and works like new. best reel I have ever owned. Just rinse in tap water everytime I am done fishing. Also have 4300, 5500 and 6500 with no problems with any of them.

I have my Grandad's Penn 705 "greenie", that has flawlessly withstood heavy saltwater action, since 1966.

The stuff that Legends are made of.

I have my Dad's Squidder which was bought about 1955. I still use it every time I go surfishing. Also use a Shimmno baitrunner. The Squidder still works like a dream.
