Spent yesterday bank fishing and flying drones with my son Eli.

Started the morning at Wye Mills spillway and caught a bunch of bluegills (small) and a few shiners. Left there around 11am to fly a drone he my son got for Christmas at Chesapeake College. Went to lunch at Irish Pub in Denton and then flew drone again on the way to Smithville Lake. Wanted to fish the spillway but others were there so went and fished the boat ramp and caught a bunch of 8-10" shiners and one lone bluegill. Spoke to a guy boat fishing who had caught some bass and pickerel. Drove down to Idlewild and caught a bunch of bluegills and one crappie in one of the ponds. This is my third trip there but 1st time fishing. Will definitely be back again. Was one truck in parking lot with a deer cart in the back so take warning this time of year. Probably best to go on a Sunday. I definitely want to spend some more time here. Swung back passed Smithville and no one was at the spillway so tried that for a while with only one bite and no fish. I've not been impressed with this spillway yet. Maybe I need live minnows. Picked up steamed shrimp and Snow Crab legs from Bloughs Seafood in Cordova and stopped by North Caroline High School to fly the drone again on the way home. All in all a great father son day.

WOW1 I say that is a great day. Over a week ago I caught some 9-10" crappie in the spillway. Then seen a few people fishing there. I think you can clean out the crappie, then have to hit it right when more crappie move in. Before anyone cleans it out, like I did. Did you go to the three ponds up the road from Smithville Lake in Idlewild? You got me wanting Steamed Shrimp and crab legs now. I went to the lake I caught fish yesterday morning and only caught one little bass. The lake shut down this morning. It happens to me sometimes.

Andy the ponds I fished were in Idylwild. There are way more than three ponds in there. Look on google maps. My feet were hurting plus it looked like someone was hunting so we fished the first three or four ponds we came to. Only caught fish from one of them but they were packed in tight and were pulling the float all the way under. Most of the other places you just see the float wiggle a little when they bite. I'll definitely go back, but probably only on Sundays until hunting is over. I don't really know the hunting seasons. I know you only fish lures but do you know anywhere to get minnows? They have them in Laurel on broad creek but that is too far. No minnows at Tuckahoe Sportsman until the perch runs start.

There is a tackle shop right in Denton. I haven't been there yet. My friend told me they sell minnows. Maybe we should show Tuckahoe Sportsman some yellow perch to get him moving on the minnows. LOL! You probably don't know about these three ponds that are close to each other. Not a far walk to these ponds. And they are in Idywild. I didn't know about them. My Daughter and her boy friend showed me. Got to go now, and watch Terps Basketball.
