Didn't think much would be happening yesterday in Ormond. Too windy, rough surf, no fleas in the sand. No fleas means little to no Pomps. Wait till maybe tues or wed!! Things will pick up. Try using shrimp over the mullet.
You can catch fleas in the sand just as the waves go out. look for lots of bubbles. Dig deep with both hands and then throw the sand sideways on the hard pack. Quickly pick up the fleas. But it is easier using a flea rake. Available in just about any bait store or tackle shop. Cost ranges from $15 to 60.
I usually fish Ormond south to Canaveral Seashores. Ormond hasn't been producing anything lately other than the occasional pesky Blues, some Bull whitings, and the occasional red. Try farther south, Ponce Inlet or the jetty. At least Pomps are there, better chance at reds, flounder, sheepsheads, trout. Target what ya want.
Right now, with the beach action being slow, I am not fishng anything but the lagoon. Reds and Snook are biting hot in the Eldora area!! But ya need a boat for that.
