Hi Fellers,

Will be going down to Ocracoke next week for a couple of days with my lady friend. I already plan on stopping by Tradewinds and getting the latest scoop.

It looks like the wind will be switching out of the NE next week. What kind of effect will this have on the beach? I am assuming a hard sustained NE wind will push quite a bit of water onto the beach but just wanted to double check.

As of now I am planning on getting a ORV permit. It looks like there are still quite a few closures on the Island. Do you all think this will be worth while to buy one or should I just not worry about it? I cannot find an interactive site like the one they have for Cape Lookout to see all the closures.

Any other tips would be most appreciated.

Maybe I'll see some of yall down there.

Tight lines.

Wife and I took grandsons couple of weeks ago (5 and 8 yo). Most of the beach was open for driving except the year round closed areas. Turtle nest well marked. Forecast I see for first of the week is light NE to E - good wind for me this time of year. Fished small stuff. No drum rods. Small sea mullet everywhere we stopped. Do not know what Hermain changed. I will probably head back soon on a more serious fishing trip. Good Luck - glenn
