Going to be spending the week between Xmas and New Years in the Nags Head area. Will have a few hours to work out the fly rod or surf pole. Any suggestions? Has this cold snap gotten the stripers moving south yet?

Almost all the stripers I know of stalled out around New Jersey and haven't moved further south. You might have some luck here or there but I'd focus on trout or maybe little black drum out of the surf.

Strikers are being caught at Oregon Inlet and have been for some time now. Read the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center fishing reports. However they may only be available from a boat.

There is plenty of stripers in the sound. Small ones with a few keepers mixed in. The warm weather has made the keeper bite tough, that should change. The fish are at Manns Harbor bridges, really only accessible by boat. The oregon inlet guys are making the 10 mile run. A few trout and pups in the surf. The best surf fishing action seems to be south of the oi bridge. Good luck!
