Gold Coast Offshore Reports
Posted August 15 2003

Capt. Skip Dana of the Helen S drift boat of Pompano Beach reported good catches of kingfish this week. The kings, which were running up to 25 pounds, were biting in 80-130 feet from Hillsboro Inlet to Deerfield Beach Pier. Yellowtail snapper also were biting, along with some mutton and mangrove snapper. Wahoo have been biting live bait in 130-200 feet. You can also catch them by trolling spoons or ballyhoo in 200-400 feet. Swordfishing has been very good at night.

Piers/Inlets

Snook and tarpon (20-100 pounds) were biting at Government Cut. Juno Beach Pier had jacks, Spanish mackerel and blue runners. Lake Worth Pier had lots of barracuda. Deerfield Pier had barracuda and jacks. Pompano Beach Pier had cero mackerel, jacks, mangrove and yellowtail snapper and blue runners. Anglin's Pier in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea had blue runners, jacks and a few snapper. Dania Beach Pier had some jacks, some big mutton snapper, plus keeper mangrove, lane and yellowtail snapper.

Here is a site not only to get in touch with some guides or charters but to hear what they have been up to on the water.
But we know all fishermen have there stories to tell.
