we are tring to pick the best time around april to come down to do some pier fishing when do the spots, blues, mackeral ect... start their migration to the north? we fish their every yyera but not in the spring. thanks for any info
This year when I was there at the end of April, the Spanish were thick and we caught a limit of blues one day, didn't see any caught after that though. It varies though, depends on water temp, bait, location, ect.
pay particular attention to the tides. for example; november 8th 2008th low tide is a positive 1.4ft, high tide is 6.8. this is good. november 13th low is -0.5 and high is 9.1, not good from what ive been learning. some of the more experienced guys please correct me if im wrong here. the slower moving water does not stir up as much trash for one. second the fishing window stays around longer, meaning that the sweet spot where fish are feeding moves slower. this doesnt mean that they arent there feeding its just that the time that they are around is less amount of time than there is in a slower moving tide.
