My Gears Ready But will the Weather Cooperate this WK end

I will cross the Atlantic off my list of things to fish this weekend .
With the storm in the Gulf coming ashore and sure to cause rain and the Hurrican in the Atlantic causing 4 to 7 footers in the surf makes for a hit and miss kind of weekend. Will be sure to be watching the Weather Channel and numorous web sites to see when I can get out to the Indian River and wet some lines.I would think the early Am before the activity of thunderstorms coming from the Gulf tommorow might be my best bet. Gear on stand by at the front door ready to go. To those who might get out this weekend be careful and keep and eye to the sky and stay dry. Their calling for 9 inches of rain on the Gulf Coast , 6 inches in the Central part of the state and 4 inches on the East Coast.

I was off Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Kept hearing about all the rain and flood watches being posted.

By Wednesday evening, we got very little rain here in east Orange County.

Weather report for Thursday called for rain, so I pretty much blew off going out.

Slept in Thursday and got up to a nice day....

Damn those weather forecasters!

No Rain Yet / Pm I'm Sure

Went out to the Mel Bch Pier this AM about 6:45 . Weather overcast a bit winds from the SW, water weedy and a bit dirty.
Got a couple good bumps on the white D.O.A shrimp but no hook ups . Hooked up some small spots for bait and gave them there AM swim lesson to see if they could arrouse some biggins to bite but nothing in the bucket to fillet . Fished till about 9:30 . May be next time. Till then , take care all.:D

Sorry to hear no fish, but always next time. It does seem this weekend will be a wash-out, but who knows. I might just sneak out to the river around cocoa and try to find a sheltered spot. Catch some mullet and toss them in, hmmm. Smooth casting all.:)

Kozlow,

I got up early and was surprised to see no rain, so I decided to try the Eau Gallie causeway. A bit windy, but not TOO bad. It made throwing the net for bait a bit challenging.

I caught a nice trout on a live pinfish. It was 19" long to the
tail split (22" overall. I'm not sure where you're supposed to measure 'em.) Nice little fight before I landed and released.

Also hooked a 25" sail cat. Biggest sail I've pulled out of the river so far. Looked like it swallowed a football. And it fought harder than the trout. I'm glad I had some extra-long shock leader as I had to hand line him up to the bridge to extract hook.

Left after 2 hours. Couldn't find any more bait to net. If this is typical tropical storm fishing, then count me in. Both fish are personal bests!
