I went out of Gwynn Island today with a friend and headed into a nasty chop to fish the mouth of the Rappahannock. The birds were MIA, so we slow trolled and jigged around some structure blind. I got one keeper on a 7 inch chartreuse slow trolled as we went a little ways towards the Norris Bridge. My buddy got one keeper and two throwbacks jigging a smaller swim shad. Nothing on my shad assassin jigging the structure. The bridge looked tempting but we didn't head that far up river. Things flattened out nicely in the afternoon, but the morning was rough in a little craft.

I heard the bite was much stronger on the eastern shore side.
