fished lynnhaven pier this afternoon, ~3pm. till midnight...sporadic blue activity until dark kept me stated as the flounder bite was non-existent at best...got-chas or chunking produced blues to 18" throughout my stay, as the spot assault continued along the pier...couple of ladies took home bushel baskets full of nice crabs today, and i heard of a keeper flat one landed in the morning...loaded the cooler down with hand-sized spot and 14-18" blues and slipped away right as the front started coming through...

Follow Up.
I was out on Lynnhaven Pier Thursday as well. There from 9am-5pm with two buddies. Spot bite was steady in the morning and got slow as high tide came in. With high tide came huge schools of blues with non stop activity. Fishing cut bait on a bobber took about 30 seconds per cast to either have your bait taken or hook a fish. We caught 50-60 blues, more than half of which went back. Some went in to the crab traps, some went in to the freezer for next weeks crab traps.
Also had a mystery break off. Hooked what felt like a small spot. Was reeling in easily, something suddenly hit the line again and the line was spooling out quickly. Medium light action rod with 8 pound line had no chance of bringing in what ever it was that hit it. I am guessing a cownose ray though. Played with it for about 10 minutes before the 30 pound leader snapped or got cut right over the hook.
