Anyone know where I can find info on fishing rivers and or creeks near the Bay. I fished a small spot down in Saluda and Westpoint but,I'm looking for more options.... Don't get me wrong I love fishing the piers but when I'm out with my son he rather have his dad all to himself... can anyone help

Let me think on this. But for starters do searches on the York River and the James River. Just use the search above, lots of options.

How about taking your son and going for some saturday /sunday rides in the country. North, South & East of Richmond are many, many creeks and small rivers that would be great for "Soakin minners & worms". A lot of them have room for just one car to pull off and a small place to fish; but, it's great fun for a young-un.

My dad got me hooked by taking me to a beach at like 6 or 7 at night when its not too hot. We would just go to a random spot on the beach and catch hundreds of spot. We used to go to a place on shore drive in between lynnhaven fishing pier and fort story. Plenty of croakers and spots roam those areas and NOT MANY PEOPLE!

Dav's very best kid spot, but ya gotta do it just like I post it.

Find Gwynn's Island on a map. Near Windmill point. Book a room at the Islander Motel. $80 a nite, this is not a glamor spot but quiet. Motel is old and musty smelling, ask for a top floor room. One of the best views around.

Its got a nice pool area and a beach that won't intimidate the little ones. Maybe stinging nettles...

You fish from the side porch at night, don't bother during the day. You will be stunned and amazed at what you can catch!!!

You must bring all your own bait and pealer krab rules there. Oh, you can find bloodworms but it is the pealers that make it.

You will be fishing the dock near folks sleeping in their boats, so you both should be able to keep quiet.

Eat at the Seabreeze. Nowhere else.

Thanks for the info guy's... I think we'll try the hotel thing. Sounds real nice. And if the wifey behaves maybe will take her with us..... BIG MAYBE...
