Hi;

I'm looking for some good quality polarized flip shades. I do not want to make the steep investment into prescription sunglasses. I do a fair amount of pier fishing where I am sight fishing and need something that can do a good job of cutting surface glare while protecting my eyes.

Was curious if anyone out there has had good experience with any certain brand flips and could share their experience.

Thanks.

I just ordered some Flying Fisherman brand in both grey & brown lens from an Ebay seller. About $13 for both shipped. Will have to let you know how they are once I've had the chance to use them. I've been wanting a good pair of prescription sunglasses, just can't justify the cost right now. I have an older pair of flips, but no idea what brand.

My biggest issue with flips is they don't cover my glasses well enough to offer good glare reduction and they scratch too easily. But, for the cost, I'll have to live with them for now. :fishing:

I had a pair of Cocoon's that were decent. Bought em at Bass Pro. Eventually I made the investment into prescription sunglasses and have since gone to contacts. The added weight of clip on shades annoyed me as my glasses would slide off my face if I looked down.

The FFs look nice but I had to go to their web site to determine their size (58mm) since the EBay seller did not bother to include that in the description. Please let me know your opinion of them.

I was looking at the Cocoon Sidekicks since they wrap around. I do not have issues with normal flips riding my glasses down, but not sure how the Sidekicks will act.

Just rec'd the Cocoon Sidekicks and really disappointed.

The Cocoons are very thick and I can immediately feel the weight on the bridge of the nose. The lenses are the dimensions specified but due to a design dip in the frame, attach in such a manner that has them sitting 1/4 of an inch above my prescription glasses, thereby leaving the bottom 1/8 of my prescription glasses unprotected. I would have to order their XL size which I won't as they would be even heavier and excessively wide.

Oh well back to normal flips. You can now return to your regularly scheduled programming.

Digger54, I've worn the FF twice so far, and they're fine for my use. I have wire frame glasses & the FF cover the entire lens, even overlap a bit, which is OK, because it's not excessive ( at least not for me). I've tried some over the glasses types like the Cocoons in the past & they were heavier than these & not pleasant to wear. These are good so far. I liked the fact that the wear over type covered the sides, which of course the flips don't, but with a decent hat they're reducing the glare so for the price, I won't complain.

If they last a couple years for my fishing, I'll be very happy. :D

I have used Coccoons fit overs for years and they work for me. They also have a lifetime warranty and great customer service that I can attest to. The earpieces were falling apart on one pair and I didn't even have a receipt. I sent back the glasses and I got a brand new replacement pair no questions asked within one week...they even let me choose a different style.

I use FitsOver sunglasses. They might look bulky but do an excellent job blocking the sun out. Several colors to choose from. I'm for comfort and not style as my eyes don't wear out as fast on the water. Also help hold your glasses on tighter.
