What kind of knives do you guys use? I'm looking to buy a quality knife that will not cost me an arm and a leg. Probaly around 20 to 50 bucks range.

Looking to use it to fillet fish for cut bait and other utilitarian means... :)

All purpose knife for fishing, camping and etc...

Thanks, I appreciate all the inputs!

For fishing you will need two knives - One for filleting and one for cutting baitfish into steaks for chunks.

I'll keep an eye out for you - I got mine at a thrift market (Salvation Army type) for $.50.

Jang..

You could always do what I did in the past - Get to Matapeake real early in the morning and scrounge around! Found two fillet knives and enough sinkers to last for a couple of years. ;)

Finders Keepers. ;) No really - I got a real nice knife for cutting baitfish steaks at the local thrift store. This knife should be serrated (for cutting through the bone) and the fillet knife should not.

knife

I use a $5 kitchen knife in asheath made of PVC that I heated and flatened. Cheap and durable. Don't have a fillet knife as mine was stolen out of my truck, I will likely get a dexter-russel commerical one with sheath for about $25 from a resturant supply place or Boater's world.
