I wanted to go fishing on the pier this past September when my wife and I were in VA Beach for a few days. But, on the way out of visiting the pier shop, one of those timeshare people started heckling us to death. So, the pier lost my business. I don't like a setup where you are purposefully funneled into something like that. I wanted a vacation, not a carnival Barker. It's quite possible, if they are losing business, that this could be a reason why. I sent emails to the VA Beach board of tourism and the pier telling them about it. Of course they defended their Hawking but people do not like that crap. They want to be left alone not conned into a timeshare.

The issue with VB is it's mostly a tourist pier. No defined T for bigger game fishing, no etiquette enforced like most serious fishing piers. I still fish it pretty regularly for Spanish Mack's and such but you kinda have to pick your days. In essence the pier makes more money upselling bloodworms to tourists than it makes from heavy fishing locals so they cater to that. As far as the predators trying to sell time shares, I let them know I'm not interested once, then ignore their existence if they continue
