I will never live this down

So this week I brought my friend Julie down to do some fishing and hang out for the Fourth.

Wednesday was a washout because of the rain. Thursday we went out on the Seagull and caught lots of little croaker and watched a few small sharks come in. Afterwards, we went crabbing back on Crab Creek and got around 10 good sized blue crabs. I even caught a seahorse in the cast net.

Friday we hit my favorite hole (no I will not give it up :D ) and Julie pulled in a huge roundhead (whiting/kingfish/sea mullet) in a matter of minutes. Shortly thereafter I had a 22" black drum. The rest of the day was dead. We took her fish in to be weighed since I thought it was a citation. The fish measured 1-12, well above the 1-8 necessary for a citation.

Saturday pretty much sucked, as the wind had swung to the SW and the water muddied up and was full of skates. We had no luck.

Long story short, I opened the paper this morning to look at the category leaders in the Va. saltwater fishing tournament this year. Turns out the category leader for roundhead is 1-9, which means that her 1-12 is the state leader.

I will never live this down.

thats a nice week of fishing. Looks like she enjoyed herself.
You are right Sand Flea!! You don't live these things down you live these things up. You put her on a good fish. Great Job!!And if she does not understand that then well, who cares? Sounds like a good time.
The babe outdoes the dude again. Anything to keep them happy.:D

Catman.:)
The funniest part was when she took the fish in to be weighed. When we got inside, she asked if I could grab her purse out of the car to get her license. When I came in, there she was with the fish while I was holding the purse. The guy behind the counter looked at me and snickered. I said, "There is something deeply wrong with this picture..."

Oh and by the way, check out Sunday's Pilot about the world record roundhead that came from the same general area. There's something about that place and giant roundheads...it's where Salty's came from last year as well.
hmmm

Hey sandflea I think I might know where your secret hole is??
Well I spent the holiday at sandbridge with the fam. I fished on thurs and fri, with a few blues and giant skate for my efforts. tried yakin out a bluefish head for a cobie, but no takers/.
same julie??

Is that the same julie that caught those two nice stripers?? Man she is just killing you this year. :p Sometimes that happens when you take the woman out with ya. Don't be too mad though cause by the sound of it she is definitely a keeper;)
Yup, same chick. And she's whipping me this year; I won't be able to show my face if this keeps up. :D
Flea it sounds like you are doing a great Job Guiding her!!!!!

Go ahead and try

I have been having good luck this year. Just so you know, I may have had a little help on that big striper, but the rest this year has been all me!! And I'm not modest about it.

Good luck knocking me out!

Are you saying you cheated to get that big striper?8(---) No J/k I don't think anyone will come near that until the fall run of stripers.
Told ya'll she's rubbing my nose in it.

Ah, the arrogance of a newbie... :--->
Let's just say that it was handed to me. I brought it in, though.
Congrats on all your fish you caught so far this year. Hopefully many more to come for you. He has been mulling over this since the first striper you caught. In fact I think you have outfished many of us on this board so far this year.:)
Lots of record fish caught by women. It is a known fact that they emit chemicals that attract certain fish at certain times. If only my wife would bait her own hook and take the fish off the hook, I would take her out more often.

May the fishing force be with you-my young padawan.
