Hi, I'v been looking to replace or recondition a Penn 9 M reel. Well I was looking at my collection of Penn reel s when I found a Penn 110 senator new in the box, never used. Would this make a good reel for pier fishing. If so how should i set it up, rod , # mono. I figure it would be better to press the 1/0 into service then getting a new Penn built in china. What do u think. Thank's

Horrible idea, you should immediately pack and ship that to me for proper disposal. Now, don't think twice!

The 111-2/0 is the original Penn Senator (built until the 80s) and was the "big game" version, vs the 110-1/0. Specs are for 275 yards of 30# mono.

Would it make a good pier rig, sure put it on an Ugly Stick Custom XH and winch in anything, but it might be a better option to sell it to a collector and get a couple of used made in America Penns or save it and let the price keep going up.

BNIB about 50.00 bucks..(.white handle?)
It depends on the color of the handle.. Not to give you a short answer. Yellow red and green fetch a higher dollar because of its age.
White, black and rubber is from the last 30 or so years..
Plus how much the buyer wants to spend...

Back in the 80s I had collected one of everything in the Senator series up to 9/0.. I THINK I had one green handle 3/0 in the bunch and the rest were white handles.
Sold it (the collection) for what I had in it... THANKFULLY..

Thank's 2na. She has a white handle. For 50 bucks i think i'll use it for pier fishing. I think there geared 3.1 ratio. not fast but strong power. As a kid i used a Penn 60 long beach I still have in great condition, When a fish was on you cranked fast, but the fish came up fast. I was going to put the 2/0 on a old Penn power stick 7' m/h 1 - 3 oz. I probably should get a heavier rod.

Handle color is not a reliable indicator, if buing a reel, as the various colors come up on eBay all the time and can be easily swapped in a couple of minutes.
