I fished two morning this past week at the surf at HB. Both morning very calm and clean water. Fished early around 6am outgoing tide. No wind or big waves. Used shrimp and fish bites. I had hooks in shallow medium and as far as I could cast. Both morning nothing. A few small bites from bait thiefs but nothing else. Yesterday lots of boats in close catching bait fish. I am going to try again this coming week.

You might want to reconsider your technique. How would you feel if I promised to fix you dinner at your house and told you dinner was ready, but when you got to the table there was nothing there and I told you you'd have to go searching for it elsewhere in your home? In my experience, I generally find the fish in the breaker zone or in naturally created holes and bunkers at the edge of the tidal zone. Next time you go you might try fishing a little closer in rather than casting it out beyond the breakers. Either way, I hope you have better luck the next time you're out there......

Yes I agree in the shallows is good. If you re-read my post i had lines in the shallow and i do mean shallow and out in the breakers and one out as far as i could throw. I was trying all three. As for moving i think i might try further up the beach this week. It has always been good there at huntington up toward the jetty. I did notice the features have disappeared there for some reason. Almost like the sand has shifted. Imagine that. Anyway just a report. No complaining. Fished long enough to know its patience that wins the race. And the sunrise was beautiful.

If you go north from the parking lot about halfway to the jetty there's a "shell tree" on the edge of the dunes. Right there at that tree are 3 or 4 depressions in the sand (visible at low tide) that create holes at high tide..... you might give that area a shot.
