I was there 2 weeks ago and didnt have any luck myself but there was a nice BIG redfish caught bright and early that morning. They were using shrimp and cut mullet.

If you was to drive a few minutes into Beafuort the Broad River pier has been picking up. 2 weeks ago we caught a bunch f BSB and a few whiting. The water temp has risen 7 degrees since then. I will be out there this Saturday at teh end fishing if your down that way feel free to stop by and say HI.
