Sometimes you can walk onto jetties to fish and sometimes it's prohibited (the man will run you off). If you see folks fishing on them, you can walk on. You won't need special shoes (ex: Korkers) if the rocks are dry and flat, but if the waves go over them or you see that there is growth/algae on them...wear special shoes or be prepared to slide off into the water, risking your life. BTW, sometimes you have to deal with rats when you go on the rocks and it's dark. They will steal bait - LOL. The big ones are brave. I'm just sayin' ...

Jetty fishing. Dress for the weather conditions. Korkers a must,or a boot with studs. No sneakers, rubber boots , unless you wear korkers with them.Surf bag, rod and reel, what ever size you like. Plugs for the bag,you just need a few, not everythingyou own. Also a lot of people wear a flotation devise to be really safe. Oh yeah, Don't wear waders out on a jetty. Bad weather wear a rain suit and pants. Always be aware of whats going on about you, other fisherman, ocean wave action. Tight lines.:)

Walking a jetty without korkers or similar footwear is unwise. Rocks may look dry and clean and still be slippery. I've made that mistake more than once and paid with scraped and bloody shins.
