if you can figure out a way to get a 1/0 - 4/0 size hook out into some saltwater you can have an opportunity to catch a croaker. yes a 12' rod would work. any rig with a hook will do. good luck

I use blood worms and a 5'6 rod, top and bottom rig will work perfect.

squid strips work well too. Try more for the evening hour right after sunset til about midnight.
