Fished this morning 7am-10 am and managed 2 puppy drum and 2 flounder. Puppy drum and 1 flounder were short so they were released to grow up. Keeper flounder was 16 inches. All caught on bucktail flounder rig with mud minnows.

Staying at Moss Creek Plantation, no boat so I've been fishing from the docks provided at the resort. Have seen plenty of tailing reds but it has been difficult getting getting to them without a boat or kayak. Went to Dressien (sp) beach yesterday with my family and either blues or Spanish were smacking bait on the surface 30 yards off the beach.

Grew up at shipyard. Never fished moss creek but this time a year live shrimp, live pinfish and half a blue crab produce the reds. Mud minnows will produce the flats. There is a saltwater pond on the other side of shelter cove. I've caught some nice reds in there on cut mullet, Carolina rigged

Do you know a local bait and tackle place? I caught the mud minnows at low tide, but I picked up crappy frozen bait at walmart and would like to find some fresher bait. Thanks JTR for the helpful info, what type set up do you typically use to catch the reds?

Southern Drawl outfitters, look it up. It's off the island not to far. Usually have big mud minnows, live shrimp, fiddlers and sometimes finger mullet. I Carolina rig a lot with live bait or popping corks with about 16 inches of leader. if you can catch some pins I throw them live on a jig head. Also, if you can catch some blue crab I throw that on a jig head in the grass at high tide. If you are around grass watch to see movement. They are in there

Went back out again this morning 7-10 trying to get into some flounder with mud minnows on a flounder rig, 2 small puppy drum about 13in. and 3 pesky small blacktips. Going to go back out at high tide in about 2 hours.

Nice. Bonnet heads are one of my favorites, most people don't know they exist let alone get to see one. Their pups where coming through en mass a couple months ago, I was happy to see them and see that many of them. Our afternoon weather this time of year can make fishing fun, 100 degrees one minute and pouring rain the next.
