Not too bad for two Hrs. fishing. I could have caught more. I released a lot of them. It is time guys. Could be over in a blink of the eye. But you all know that. I might go back tomorrow morning. Get my yellow perch fix, then wait for the white perch.

Weather is going to be too nice tomorrow to be stuck in the office. Ill probably head down there mid morning. You pick those up at the boat ramp?
Can't say exactly where. I want to fish there again this morning with out people fishing on both sides of me. Hope you understand. I will probably be leaving when you get there mid morning. I only fish for 2-3 Hrs. Have you ever fished down river about 5 miles. It's called Stony Point. If you use a GPS I could give you the numbers to get there. Pretty neat place way back in the woods.

What size lead head are you using with your bass assasins Andy?
Do you use any attractant....pro cure, gulp spray, smelly jelly?
Right now I am using the lightest one I have. Might be 1/32. I really don't know. I am not into weight. I see them and I just know what I need. No I don't need any attractant. The perch I am catching are in about 2-3- feet of water. If you hit the tide right and work the light jig right, you will catch them. They will hit almost anything for pan fish in your tackle box. Better get them now. Once they spawn it's over, and that can happen any day. I fished two hrs this morning. I kept 7 or 8 and released about 25. Fish Fish Sardine Shishamo Fish products

Looks like you fished the outgoing
Yes, early morning outgoing. When tide got dead low it was over. Then all I was catching were the little male perch. I got my yellow perch fix the last few mornings. I think I will take a break and take Pat to the Casino or a restaurant tomorrow. Go get-um guys. It don't last too long.

Gonna give it a shot in the a.m. on an excellent solunar. High tide is 6 or 7.

Hope to C&R some fat females. Maybe hook up with a toothy tidal critter(pike). Just looking for pullage on my ultra lite tackle.

The boat launch area looks pretty sweet also.

Caught a ton of YP on Saturday. A few during the day and then they turned on like mad at the slack high tide. I had my kid rotating between three rods and it was all I could do to get the fish off the hook before he was handing me another one. Had on a double dropper with 1/32 shad darts below a bobber tipped with minnows, but they were hitting anything. Had multiple double hooks ups. We already had our limit and wanted to do a little experimenting and they were even hitting 4" Gulp mullet. Went home with our limits and threw back a good 15 - 20 keepers. Caught about 20 more in the 7 or 8 inch range. Caught a nice pickerel as well.

When I was filleting them up, probably 50% of the had Red Worms in them. My wife is grossed out by them, but I cut out as many as i can find and make sure I cook them well.

Sounds like you had a great day. Worms are the biggest drawback with YP. Do you fillet and skin your YP? I always do, that way, I can "candle" the fillet and remove any worms. Occasionally, there will be one that is just so bad that I have to discard it but not very often. Sometimes, there is a similar problem with crappies.

nhunter344, good day for you and the boy. It has been pretty good. I have been catching about 25 every time, but only keeping about 7 or 8. I thought i had enough yellow perch fishing, but I think I am going to hit the spot one more time for a few Hrs. before it's over. When you going after white perch? That's next on the list.

Update: After having my work double checked by my wife, I was informed I am no longer allowed to fillet and skin any fish without my reading glasses on. Everything we caught had them. Good thing was that there weren't many so easy to cut out.

I am completely new to MD's tidal fisheries (grew up fishing Allegheny trout streams), so I'm still learning as I go. Do white perch suffer the same issues?

I don't think white perch have any worms. The cold snap shut down the yellow perch in shallow water for me. Only caught two keepers this morning, but I did real good with crappie.
