Help with rod decision

Need a new rod or two. Looking for something in the 9ft range. Something for sea mullet and pompano that can handle up to 4oz, though it doesn't need to be rated that high as I'm typically throwing 2-3oz 75% of the time. I'd like to spend less than $125. I currently own a couple penn prevails 9' 3/4-3oz rods. They are decent rods but I find them a little stiff for sea mullet and pomp. So I'd like something with a softer tip.

Some options I've come up with so far.

Penn battalion
Daiwa emblem
Tica (whatever model is in this price range)

Feel free to suggest other makes and models as well. I don't need something fancy, just something better than what I currently have, don't even care if it costs more than a prevail if it's better suited to my needs.

Thanks for any help.

I would look at an 11-13ft rod for pompano as they can be at more of a distance than sea mullet …9-10ft rod for sea mullet.

I’ve been using a 9’ ML Battalion II as my whiting rod. Rated to 2oz but I will
put up to 3oz or 4oz if I’m just lobbing it close. not the original purpose I intended but works pretty well. It will sling 1oz or 2oz pretty good though.
Maybe the bass pro breakwater rods . At the very least, they have better components than my Penn prevail (I have both ) and cost less .

Im just worried about the stiffness. I want something with a softer tip, wonder if the battalion blank is any different or is it just the guides and other hardware?
Check out the Star Stellar Surf rods. I fish several (two of the 7-1/2’, a 9’. and a 10’) - I like them quite a bit. Not sure if you live on the Pungo River but those rods are stocked at Chasing Tails in Atlantic Beach, The Reel Outdoors at Emerald Isle, Tex’s Tackle in Wilmington and at Rigged & Ready B&T at Holden Beach. I can sling metal for a couple hours with my light rods for Spanish and Blues (usually using 1-1/4 oz. Stingsilvers) however the 9’ will sling a 2 oz. Stingsilver like a rocket. Reasonably priced as well. OH
Been doing a lot of looking around. Found the Penn prevail 9'ML that's rated 1/2-3oz. Moderate fast action. That might be what I'm looking for. Also found a Tica UEHA with similar numbers, but pricier. Not sure I surf fish enough to justify spending more money.
Okuma Rockaway 12' 1-4oz. . I used this rod with a guide and loved it, bought two. More sensitive than anything I had used. Close to your price point. Longer is more gooder! Okuma Rockaway Surf Spinning Rod
Second the Breakwater rods. It’s a Penn rod just without the Penn price.
