These were caught by 2 separate friends at 2 separate locations... I think the 1st is some kind of perch, but the rounded head is throwing me off. White perch have more of a snout-like nose.

Pretty sure the 2nd is a baby black drum, but the angle is throwing me off...

Much hotter water this year, you will see more southern fish further north.

Bottom fish looks too thin to be a black drum.

The black bands appear too "wavy" as well......the small drum I have seen generally seem to have pretty straight vertical bars.

Pic #2........whiting? Shape looks right, mouth looks right.....them bars just look way too dark .

It's not uncommon for very small juvenile black drum to have some irregularity in the shape of the bars. Larger fish up to 15 pounds appear to have more defined bars, before most lose them altogether. The notch separating the two dorsal fins is a good indication as well.
