Wow. Well, such is the nature of barrier islands. Inlets open, inlets close.
The idea of building bridges over inlets on these islands is folly. They move too much. It's not like building a bridge over a river or mainland inlet. Officials should go back to relying on a ferry system that can adapt to changing conditions, even if it is a pain in the butt to get around.
Sometimes mother nature reminds us that we're not in charge as much as we think we are.
On the bright side, we now have a new fishing spot to start exploring.
