My wife and I have a chance to visit and fish there next sept. Reading some of the reviews of the place we learned that the traffic is very heavy to get out there. Is that true?? We would be staying north of a Super Wal-Mart store about 2 miles. Would like to go but not looking forward sitting in traffic for hours just to travel 10 miles. Thanks for any help.

You'll run into more traffic at the Wright Memorial Bridge coming into Kitty Hawk/ Southern Shores than where you are going...
Especially this time of year... Nice easy drive after Labor Day and during the week.

If you are staying near the Walmart you are staying in either Southern Shores or Duck.... It's a pretty good drive time wise to, say, the lighthouse in Hatteras well over an hour and a half

Thanks for the quick responses and help. Will let the boss know that that time of year there is OK. Once I know we will be going there I will be asking general questions as to where to fish and what to use. Been fishing in Myrtle Beach for years and know it's a different game up there. Thanks again.......

Perhaps the traffic warning relates to the Hampton Roads/Virginia Beach area. It can be very heavy.....best to avoid anytime close to rush hour, morning or afternoon. Once you get to the outer banks traffic shouldn't be an issue in September...good luck.

Unless something changed that I missed, if you are a couple miles above a wallmart, Hatteras is a lot more than 10 miles.........
