I posted this response on the other board but I will post it here also.
Looks to me like you had more than a little action. I guess minnows vs. plastics all depends. Last week I fished the river and out caught the guys fishing next to me by at least 4 to 1. They were using minnows and I was using plastics. I think a lot of it was I kept my plastics moving in a slow retrieve and they for the most part let their minnows sit dead on the bottom. In the local creek, minnow tipped darts out fish plastics, so go figure.
I went yesterday with a friend on his boat and we fished a mix of plastics and darts tipped with minnows. We had a slow day and never did find any big fish. I caught a fish on the first cast and we began catching lots of small fish on plastics. We probably caught 40 -50 fish with five small keepers. Then they moved and we were never able to get onto them again in any numbers. If the fish will cooperate, I prefer to use plastics because I have less down time than when messing with the minnows.
Need I mention that it was cold on the water?
