Recently had a buddy of mine move to the apartments right there on the water. He's had no luck fishing that water at all. I have no idea about his knowledge, ability, etc., though. Anyone fish that part of the ER and what could you expect to catch there?

Thanks,
Tj

I hear there is good crabbing there. And also some occasional small stuff, spot and croaker and such when the salinity is high.

He might want to look into joining an anglers club called the Great Bridge Fisherman's Association in order to learn more about the area. They also do a huge flea market and tackle swap event every year in March.

That's where the fresh and salt mix. So one side with bridge is fresh and other is brackish so know what licence you have.so you can and will catch all kinds but you have to target them. You will mainly catch catfish or eels if using cut bait, Mostly crabs to. In the colder months the trout, pups, and schoolies will be around. White perch are plentyful should be about that time for them. But not trying to hype it up to much it's usually slow around there. Your best bait will be gundeons and minnows to keep the eels, catfish away. At night sometimes the schoolies come around and can be had on plastics. Mostly muddy bottom .

Btw the marine police station is right there now on the water and the other state people come thru frequently.

Thanks so much for all the replies. The only fish another friend of mine who's "helping" caught there was probably a white perch from his description. I've given them some hook suggestions and bait recommendations like bw fish bites. Looks like either side, and he's on the saltier side, is a mixed bag. So, along with typical salt gear I guess I'll head over there with a nice worm hook and my personal favorite for catching large bass - the 5" Yamamoto pure black senko.

Oh, and yes the crabs are plentiful there.

Cheers!
