I went yellow perch fishing and lucked in to a mess of crappie and blue gill. Only caught one yellow. I feel like a kid again catching pan fish. All fish caught on the tube bait under a bobber.Click image for larger version. Name: IMGP3061.JPG Views: 0 Size: 128.7 KB ID: 197354Click image for larger version. I don't believe we have seen the yellow perch run yet on the Eastern Shore. Last year was right around St Patty's day. It was late last year because of the cold, I expect it to be earlier this year.
You said you live on Wye Mills Lake. I told you when I lived in Stevensville I fished that lake a lot. Even in the dead of winter. LOL!

Cool picture, back when we were kids it seemed the farm pond in Virginia would freeze over every year. We all had ice skates. When the wind was blowing we would hold an old bedsheet between us to form a sail and get some serious speed out across the pond. I remember a few years when it would snow on the pond while it was frozen over and the cows would walk out from one side to the other. I'm not a big fan of winter but I kinda miss that. Never seems to get that cold anymore. Never had much luck ice fishing though...saw a few bream frozen in the ice under the surface from time to time.

When we were young, my friend and I played ice soccer with a piece of ice and a Chesapeake Bay Retriever Dog. Wear did all the Chesapeake Bay Dogs go. Years ago a lot of family's/kids had them. Don't see many around anymore.

Cool... Thanks for the report.
As embarrassed as I am to say it, I fished for crappie for the first time a little over a week ago, and had a ball.
Got access to a private spot on the Marshy Hope, so I'm anxious to give it a shot.

You are lucky to have a private spot on the Marshy Hope Creek. I would like to find a few more spots to fish along the Marshy Hope. Let us know. Give us a fishing report. Thanks!

Andy,

Andy Schoener lived next door to me in Baltimore City around 30 years ago. He was quite an excellent LM fisherman, and later had a hook and line commercial rockfishg license.
I believe he moved to Florida when he moved from next door. There was a photo of him landing a big crappie from the spillway of Stemmers Run lake in a 1960's era issue of "Fishing in Maryland" magazine.

Wow! You lived next door. I have no idea who you are. Is your first name Dennis? Next door was three Beautiful girls, their last name was Carr. Was this on Fairmount Ave. or Clinton Street? You got to tell me who you are. PS. When we moved from Baltimore, we went to the Eastern Shore for about 25-30 years, then moved to FL.
