I know it's probably a waste, but I've got the afternoon off so I decided to go get a line wet.

Water temperature is sitting at 50 degrees. Winds aren't supposed to be bad. I'll be fishing from the shore (saltwater) in Southern Maryland (tricounty area) with a combination of Fish Bites and some lures. I toyed with the idea of buying some bait, but don't want to spend $13 on some bloodworms to drown them. I've got the bloodworm and squid 'flavor' Fish Bites, so I'll be using those instead.

I'll post a report this evening.

Good effort. Thanks for the report.

BTW, next time if you want save some $$$ on BW, you can "Stretch" out the BW by picking up some nightcrawlers and 1 bag of BW. Use 1/2 of each on your hook. I have not tried this myself, but I have witnessed few who tried this and it actually works. Not as good with the whole BW though but it works nonetheless.

Thanks for the tip! I've almost switched over to using nightcrawlers exclusively. At $13 a dozen, I have a hard time buying bloodworms.

Once this weather blows through, I'm going to try a local freshwater spot. See if I can't catch some crappie. Talked to friend of mine and he claims I need a boat. But, I'll be giving it a shot anyways. That and I'll be hitting up the locally stocked trout ponds this week. Probably nothing left, but again, a wet line is always better than a dry one.

It is easier to catch fish in a boat, but you don't need a boat to catch fish/crappie, I can tell you that. Plus it is more of a challenge without a boat. Yep, good to get out there and try. Good Luck!
