All broke during the cast. Never threw over 6 oz. with the rod.
Mine was a factory rod , but have had heard the same has happened with the customs. I really like the way the rod fought a fish, but got tired of the length of time it to to get a new tip.
The last tip that they send was refurred to as the thicker tip, but never tried it because like I said before sold it to cut my losses, and bought a straight 8 zziplex, and never looked at another loomis again.

Personally I like the g loomis. Bought a factory model back in 98 when they were the hot drum stick. Learned to cast with it. Hit 300, 400, 500 and 550 with it. Maybe i was lucky, maybe I just got a good one but for me it was an excellent rod. Lightweight, loaded easily and fought drum great. Caught several citation drum with it before trading it to big brother who still fishes it......

Gotta figure out a way to trade it back.... :)
