Had plans for weeks to go to the Snakehead Rodeo on the C&O canal yesterday. DNR decided to cancel it on Friday afternoon because of the weather, but I had my mind set on going so I went anyway. Fished from the Pennyfield lock to the Violette lock. I was hoping to run into someone who regularly fished for snakehead so that I might learn something for a future trip. I met a couple of folks that I enjoyed talking to, but they were all of the same mindset that I was; Disappointed that the event was cancelled, and hoping to meet a regular Snakehead anglers to improve their techniques. Threw water frogs, rattletraps, stick baits, poppers and swim baits. Endured the rain for about 7 hours, and finish the day with seven small mouth. All but one was taken on a white Berkley powerbait swim bait, about 3 inches long. The weather wasn't perfect, and the fishing could have been better, but it was good to get out and meet some folks.

I never heard of the snakehead rodeo. If it wasn't so far I would like to join in on this. yes the 7" purple worm on an off-set #3 worm hook and a 1/8th bullet weight caught two in the last few mornings. You can work the worm thru weeds, lily pads, rocks, just about anything. The bass love them also. But you probably already know this. Asphalt Soil
Damn, look at that old man. He looks weak. ;)
