I'm looking for a second distance rod for smaller to mid sized fish. I have a TASR for that purpose now and I'm happy with it (cost and performance). I am looking for a rod in the TASR cost and performance range but as you all know, they are no longer available new except for the rare few that pop up on the market and of course, I'm usually a day late. Lol. I don't want to spend too much money on this rod.

Anyone try or have a Florida Surf Angler Rods (FSAR)? I've been thinking of getting their 13ft rod. It's in the "range" I'm looking for though it's close to 100 dollars more than I'd like to spend but my choices seem limited. It's similar to the TASR in that it's dual rung and I do like the low riders guides thought I prefer Kframes for my spinning rods. I haven't seen any reviews on them so not sure what I would get.

The CCP 13ft (3-6) is the other contender of course. Price range is the same as the FSAR but it's either a spinner or caster unless I have one custom built. Then the cost goes way up. Performance wise, I've read and heard enough to know that's it's top performer.

The Daiwa Saltiga Ballistic SA-BS 33-405G is another contender. I've found one new for sale at about 50 dollars more than the FSAR or CCP. Design wise I guess it's closer to the TASR in that it's dual rung and it's a 2 piece but I hear the bite detection on the CCP is far better. I've heard it's a great versatile rod but casting distance wise, the CCP will out perform it as well.

Anyone have any suggestions or comparison input on the rods listed above? I'm looking to hopefully stay in the 200 dollar range but low 300 is my max.

Thank in advance.

One Very Happy CCP owner here.
I've not tossed the other two in consideration, but the 13' 3-6 is nothing short of a rocket launcher.
Mine is Casting.
Tommy's Factory rod outcasts my custom CTS 13' 2-6 and that blank was more than Tommy's built rod.
Plus, you couldn't be giving your $$$s to a nicer guy, if that counts for anything...
YMMV

I'll state first that I haven't thrown the CCP 3-6 but I own the 3-7 and the 4-8 and they are nothing short of a dream to fish with. I've heard nothing but amazing things about the 3-6 and will be looking for one this spring. You really can't go wrong with one of tommys.

I own a pair of the FSAR Surf XDs and love them, and plan to get at least one more.
