anyone stay at the http://www.bayviewinn.com @ mm-63 recently ??
was able to snag a 3 night stay next week and really looking forward
to getting back down to my old stomping grounds. (it's been 4 years now).
I usually stay in Marathon or Key Colony but wanted to try something
different this trip ...... the wife wants a waterfront motel with a dock so she can
fish 24 hours a day LOL LOL (yeah, she is a die-hard fisherman).
won't be taking my boat this time. This place has a boat ramp with boat rentals nearby.
looking at Google Earth, the bridges on each end of Conch Key look fantastic for bridge fishing
off the old original highway . . . .

Florida Keys - Trip Report

- fishing was a total BUST !!
really bad weather with a constant 30k wind from the East day and night
for a whole week before I got there and two days after I got there.
seagrass and seaweed made any kind artificial pitching impossible.
bottom fishing - had to clear your line every few minutes.
our last day there went back to normal - very nice day and caught a few small snapper
and couple of 14" jacks and a small bonnet head. most were returned back to the sea to fight again.
the motel itself was fantastic..... most of the small "mom-n-pop" Keys Motels are the older vintage
concrete block '50s - '60s era and most show their age.....
although this one was of the vintage era, it has some very nice upgrades like a small pool.
boat dock in the back is right on the Gulf. The owners are extremely directed to guest comfort.
There is also a small convencience/general store in the building. Wahing machines too.
They have positive reviews on Trip Advisor and Bookings.com and mine will be positive as well.
They offer the plain motel room with mini-fridge and microwave, and also the kitchenettes.
Our room was on the second floor with a balcony view of the gulf - more money puts you on the
ground level with your room opening up right to the dock. (depends on your budget).

although this motel is 20 minutes North of Marathon (MM-63), and an hour to Key West, it is a nice place.
the best thing that I have seen is the repurposing of the old bridges into fishing bridges.
they are almost complete with that project so any place you stay in the Keys will
have some kind of bridge fishing nearby - be advised, it is in the hot open ocean air - no shade.
take your umprella. A wagon is a MUST HAVE in the Keys !!! (IMHO), you will be glad you did.
