Went fishing yesterday, it was hot and it was humid. What do you do when you have the current AA National and SE regional champ on your left and the former AAA on your right? Talk about pressure, every time the champs would cast I would hit the sand. It sounded as if missiles were being launched from each side of me. Talk about pressure, it was very intense. On top of that, I had a crazy man casting with his back to the water. How close to an object can you backcast without hitting it? Fish was caught by everyone and a good time was had by all.
In prison, a person can be traded for a smoke. On a 95 plus degree day a 12oz soda is good for one croaker.
I can truly say, that casting between two champs made me step up my game and throw further. I guess, that why my body hurts today. Fish On!

It Was Nice Fishing With The Fellows Yesterday!

Hi Anthony,

It is always a pleasure to fish with friends!

I also got a chance to meet some very nice people yesterday while setting up my fishing equipment. I demonstrated different casting styles and we discussed the similarities between the fishing rods that I was using and the new type of golf shafts.

Richard it was good seeing you also. But, the pressure wasn't coming from you. Talking to you makes me relax. Those jokers were stressing me.

Hi Anthony,

I spoke to Larry today and we agree that the best part was watching you handle the pressure like a real pro. You got off to a rough start but your finish was worth the wait. Just continue doing what you did in the last 90 minutes and we won’t be able to touch you. The next time I go out with Richard (Longcaster) Burton and Larry (LarryB) Brooks, I’m going to pack tournament rods. My 12 footers almost had a meltdown. I think you missed Richard slinging his 14 foot AllStars. He was smooth and I never heard the sinker hit the water . He was so busy answering questions that it took him an hour to start fishing.

I think Ralph is directionally challenged. Have you noticed that he always casts with back to the water; what is that  ? A year ago, Ralph was casting just over 100 feet. Now he is casting in the mid-six hundreds with his back to the water (backcasting). If he had hit is car on the power stroke, there would be a SUV floating down The Bay tonight.

I also got a kick out of the guy that kept walking under our rod stands and pulling Perch five feet in front of us. It goes to show that the fish were everywhere. It was just that the bigger fish were further out.

It was nice to be in the company of past, present and future champions just chillin’ on The Chesapeake Bay. Thanks for letting me tag along.

Anyone that is thinking about casting for sport or fishing should head over to Crisfield next weekend for the Sportcast USA Crisfield Open. Get there on Friday for practice and free casting lessons. Don’t be afraid to compete. We have casters that cast 100 feet as well as casters that cast over 700 feet. Everyone will help you. I won the 2002 National Championship because other casters tuned my reels, and gave me tips before and during the event. You’ll never meet a better group of men, women, and children than the people of Sportcast USA. This is the annual fun event. There are no prizes and no pressure. If you’ve been putting it off, this is the one to attend.

Well said Sir Backcaster, I'm proud of you. Though I am the director, you are the best example. You give hope to remedial students every where. You never forget where you got your start.

Sounds to me like you had a Extreme Casting Clininc Reunion :D

Keep with it chaps and you'll have the ability to make 3,300' for each round of the USA team event.

Wish I could have been there.

Having you there would have been great. We could have used your rockets to create a chum bed.

Thank you Anthony for your recantation of croaker catching with the champions. Reading about it gave me "goose bumps"!! I think you should put it to music. we should have a ballard to remember our heros by, like the Star Spangled Banner or maybe Davy Crocket.:--->

Charlie,

Was it something that Anthony has said or is the animation in the post due to too much 'Mountain Dew'

Perhaps he was just posting to say just how much he enjoyed fishing with friends. :)

Charlie,

Reads more like caster's envy to me.

If you can't beat, berate them, right?

I still enjoy reading and hearing about people experiences about improving their casting and fishing skills, obviously you've reached the pinnacle of both and it is beneath you.
That is unfortunate. It seems it has become easier to put down the accomplishments and enthusiasm of others than to improve ourselves. That is truly petty, and I expect better of you.

The fact of the matter is that it reflects poorly on the entire casting community is what disturbs me. Otherwise I would not have taken time to post this reply.

Hi Led,

I know how much you like catching Bluefish so I’ll take a few bites in your honor :D. The Bluefish were smaller than normal but we had so much fun laughing and joking around that nobody cared. They guys let me trade my Croakers for Bluefish. I find that the best way to improve my casting technique to use it. Other than Ralph, we all fished Brighton style. Larry Brooks had his reels singing. We could see the steam rise from his reels during each cast. Once he gets his sinker on plane, he’ll be casting over 800 feet. You and Peter Thain should be proud of the success that you have had with the Extreme Casting Clinic. In early spring Peter told me to move the practice to the water and he was right. Reeling in fish is more fun than reeling in grass. Thanks again to you and Peter.

Blaine, frankly I don't give a d--- what you think. I would rather you just went on your way. I am not surprised that you don't see that it was ment to be funny and I am glad you admit to being disturbed and by the way who made you assistant director. I wonder if you need to be told that what you just said IS a personal attack.

Poser - Faster than a speeding crack-off.

Charlie,

I genuinely accept that you took the opportunity to use the new animation (your so quick). 8(---)

I'm sure that Larry, Ralph, Anthony, Richard & James see the funny side too.

We must remember that casting is an integral part of fishing, as soon as we think otherwise the men in the white coats will be coming to lock us all up - not that we're too far from that stage now ;)

We all have a single goal in this sport - catch more fish and enjoy doing it.
