Its been raining steady with no signs of stopping at least until through tomorrow night. Gonna sit in the rain and toss the lines out anyway. Hopefully can still catch something, never fished in the rain

Fishing in the rain in saltwater is either a feast or a famine. May times JUST before a storm the fishing can be the absolute best it can be. I think the fish feel the drop in barometric pressure and know a storm is coming and begin feeding like mad. Once it is raining you can get the same fish you would get depending on how bad the weather is up top that will allow you to fish. I have found that immediately AFTER a storm clears the salt water action falls off. I think the salinity in the water drives the top water and shore fish deep until it returns to what they like.
I have also seen both. One day it rained all morning then let up for a while. During the let up the choppers showed up and it was game on for about an hour!!! Best big blue fishing I have ever seen. Cast after cast tossing metal as far as you could hooking big blues! So much fun. Other rain days have been spent sitting in the truck watching for a big rod bend after a wet morning. I (in my limited wisdom) have not figured out yet what happens. I need to start taking better notes while fishing. I wonder if it was a barometric change....

well we have caught absolutely notta yesterday. before the storm rolled in on monday night we slayed puppy drum in the sound and even landed a nice black drum. all from shore. gonna toss the lines back out today. beats working any day!

slayed black drum today. i have never caught a black drum and in 2 days down here we have landed around 15 of them. we caught couple croaker, couple little pin fish thingies, and caught 5 slot puppy drum. pretty good day today. golf in the morning and back for afternoon beer and fishing.
