Hi to all,
I am sponsoring a father/son fishing trip in the DMV area on 6/18/16 that also will incorporate youth who do not have fathers present in their lives. The last I checked on yesterday I have over 40 people signed up. At this point I plan to ensure all will be able to fish but am torn between locations to take them as many of them, including the men, have never fished before so I wanted to keep it simple for this year and not take them on the bay or in a boat but keep them on shore with not so tricky water. Can you all offer any suggestions as I plan to set the location within the next few days based off of the best possible situation. Thanks for your input.

I have done several of these at a pond with cut bamboo poles. Have had up to 50 people fishing. Small hooks a split shot and a bobber along with some nitecrawlers. Great fun with a cook out after wards. Awards too.
You will need a few quick tiers to rig the poles with mono. If you can find a private pond then no licenses are needed. Public ponds with a park manager will also permit a no license day.

At the end of the day the kids take home there fishing poles. One quick tip I learned (Smash the barbs) another tip is to cut the poles a week or two early so they dry right.

I know the kids don't need a license, but try to time it with free fishing days next year. Then the fathers wont have to buy a license, since you mentioned some have never fished before. This year MD is first 2 Saturdays in June and July4rth. Each state has it's own days and its mostly in June.

Thanks for you info guys. Yeah this was something on my heart to do for the children and it grew pretty fast...I am from the Eastern Shore so I am still pretty new to figuring out different locations to go that will house this amount of fishermen. Thanks again.
