Been out of the pier game for a while. Being that most of my tackle is now dedicated toward boat fishing I was wondering what everyone's opinion is on an ideal factory rod for throwing Gotchas/jerk jiggers (does anyone even call them that anymore haha? If you have a preferred rod, the model number would be more helpful than answers of generic action or weight rating as we all know those vary widely between manufacturers. Thanks

I use a cheapo 6.5 ft Gander Mountain Competitor spinning rod with 10 lb. Suffix Elite yellow mono for my plug casting. It's also a decent all-around rod for other purposes and the components have held up well. Had it for 3 years now and no signs of corrosion. Originally bought it for my wife for the rare occasion she wants to do some pier fishing, but I liked it so much I use it when she isn't fishing.

I agree with Jollymon.

To add. Watch the total weight of your set up, you want it heavy enough to handle Blues or Spanish but light enough that the constant casting and retrieving are not going to wear out your arms and shoulders. If your logistics supports it, I would get a one piece over a two piece rod set up. Also you can't go wrong an with Ugly Stik, affordable and durable.
