Hi all. Thinking about heading down to Edisto for one full day of surf fishing (before dawn-after dusk) in June (probably a Friday). Always go in spring and fall, never summer. Was wondering how crowded the beach is in summer. Unfishable? Would I have better luck at the river/sound side of the beach as far as number of people are concerned? Thanks so much for any information.

crowded from 9:00 to 5:00, like at any other vacation spot. During the day, fishing the inlet is probably the best bet in my experience.

Thanks so much. By the inlet do you mean where big bay creek comes onto the beach? How is the inlet fishing? Species?

Yes. Trout, flounder, etc. Rays. There’s also a 30’ deep channel a few yards off the inlet beach and there have been big sharks pulled out of it. A great white was even tracked there a few years ago. Don’t go swimming there at dusk!
