I'm headin down to take my first shot at drum fishing this weekend with a couple of my buddies, but we've never really done it before. I've been reading on here and online at a couple more spots about rigs and what not, but I'm curious from you guys that are having some luck right now - what size hooks are you using? I figure circle hooks would be the best bet, but I can't really find anything that says it.

What about knots? Generally speaking I'm a fan of tying a heavy leader off on a hook with a snell, but are you guys finding anything else works better? I don't suppose it makes much of a differerence as long as you tie a good one.

Figured I'd try to get some real advice from the folks that know how to do it.

drum rig

I have been using the rig that Drum Dum recomended for the last year. Actually, he turned me on to it in '06.

It will definetely go far and catch fish. I use a double uniknot for the connection of the shock leader to the line.

Good luck,

Big Joe
