I heard they were catching big croakers there but that was about 3-4 weeks ago. There may still be some stripers hanging about but the season just ended yesterday for keeping them. You can still do catch and release.

Not sure on bait stores etc. but if you ask around you should find something.

You can get bait at J&W's right as you get into town. They usually have nice peelers and other bait as well.
Always big croakers in that rivah, should be some trout around too..........
Quenns Creek Outfitters is one of the nicest tackle stores I've seen, Jerry is very informative and stocks all bait, beer, rods reels, tackle.
THERES A LITTLE SUE GAS/ STORE that sells squid & blood worms:cool: wonder if the spots are biting there yet any info be good
If you're pulling a boat, check out Locklies Marina, good bait and tackle, near good fishing areas, not so "sailboat" oreinted. If you don't have a boat, they run charters out of there as well. Haven't been there in a few years, but I'm sure they probably carry the good reputation they have had in the 35 years I've been going there.

Several reasons, the guy hasn't been in the area before, so it's a place to pick up bait and "info", beer can be bought anywhere, and the key point is, the site points out some of the prime locations to fish on that section of the river which is actually pretty accurate ;)

Thanks for all the info guys, much appreciated. I will be pulling a boat - 19ft Carolina Skiff. Hope to get into some croaker but anything would be nice. Will probably check out Locklies, sounds like the place. If ya got anything else keep it coming. Thanks again
