I fished there last week. It was definitely slow overall. But I did manage just enough roundheads to keep it interesting with the biggest going 15". Other than that, there was the odd small flounder and puffer fish and a fair amount of bluefish in the 10-12" range with the largest right at 14". They were especially easy to catch on metal early and late, particularly right in the wash in REAL close. Biggest fish of the weekend was a 24" Spanish Mackerel. I also caught the occasional skate. Blue crabs were very thick and active, of course.

4th of July:BBNWR through the rain, starting 0830 and left @ 1700...Two puffers, one unidentified member of the grouper family about 10in long, and two spots. Fished after high tide through DEAD LOW , with bites all on fishbites at low tide. Had a bunch of still squirming spots and mullet for bait...crabs loved them. Kept fresh stuff on a fireball rig all day, with no takers, except crabs. Grandson cast metal a lot, with no hits. Will try again Saturday, unless better offer comes in.

Fished on the 4th from 11:30 to about 8:00 by the old campground on north-side of telephone pole. Left with 7 croaker, 2 blues, and 3 crabs . All fish around 10 inches and crabs a bit over 6. Let the 2 skate and sand shark go. All on squid. Nothing bit hard on fiddlers or mullet.
