Was thinking about fishing the VB Pier, but didn't really want to pay $10 + parking, so I headed over to Croatan. Fished the last hour or so of high tide and caught 5 or 6 flounder. The smallest was about 10" and the biggest was 14.5". Still can't get a 16" flattie, but hopefully I'll get one soon. The water was pretty rough, and most of the bites were coming close to shore. Once the tide goes out, everything goes dead it seems. The flounder are at Rudee in numbers, so go catch some!

Thanks for the report. When you refer to Croatan are you talking about the surf section on the opposite of the inlet? Can you still park in that little section by the houses?

Yeah I feel you about the flounder. This year seems slower than other years. I'm zero on keepers too. So you say that Rudee's flounder bite is back on? I was out there like a month ago and got skunked.

Yes, I'm talking about the surf section opposite of the inlet. You can parallel park in the neighborhood near by. I'm catching small ones in pretty good numbers but no keepers, although some are very close to being keepers. I would try the inlet if I were you. From reports I've heard you might snag a spec, or a puppy drum while trying for flounder.
