A decent cast tangles you on the crab pots. Do you fish with a bass rod? I know I probably sound like an ass, I'm actually not trying to be, I'm just curious. Those pots/lines are not out far at all. I can easily hit them with a 10' rod.Never seen a shark caught from the pier but cownose and southern stingrays are common this time of year. As far as other types of fish, expect croaker and white perch with possibly a rockfish late at night this time a year with some catfish mixed in depending on water salinity. A decent cast with fresh cut bait will put you in deeper water to let you play with the bigger blue cats.
No offense taken. I don't fish there as much as I used to because the pots are being set closer and closer to the pier. I normally carry 2 8 footers and a 10. I only use the 10 if I can get on the left side of the tee and cast out at between 10 and 11 O'clock out into the channel the boats use to get to the dock.A decent cast tangles you on the crab pots. That's what I have started using. 8 and 9 footers. they work well for croakers and spot and I use the 10 footer for the corner. Any idea why they have to put the pots so dang close? Would they NOT catch crabs a little further out?No offense taken. I don't fish there as much as I used to because the pots are being set closer and closer to the pier.
