Federal Waters are closed so don't get caught over the three mile limit.....with one stashed in your Yeti...

Virginia is up in the air still, they are not even brave enough to bar trans genders from Cobia fishing.

NC Marine Fisheries are letting Recs fish 7 days a week from Piers and Beach in NC.

NC Marine Fisheries is aware that only 1% of the Recs catch 99% of the Cobia off the Piers/Beach so they felt the Cobia were relatively safe and gave the 99% more time to sit waiting on a bite...

Unless the 1% decides to fish 7 days a week (As winds/water clarity permit) a Few Cobia should be able to survive the season.

So you have to ask yourself................Am I a 1%'er fisherman? Do you have what it takes to be a 1%'er? Will my wife/girlfriend/boyfriend even let me fish enough to become a 1%'er?

They are letting DD fish every day too, for some reason.....DD is a known killer of Cobia (Cobia have a photo of his May Craft that the Cobia schools all study before leaving SC, in order to avoid him and that Potato peeler that mates for him) I am unclear why this is happening....I guess NC Marine Fisheries really do not like Cobia after all:cool: DD is probably going to whack a few this weekend..

I am doing my part here in Chicago and I will release alive every Cobia I come across in Lake Michigan.

VMRC decision was - 1 per person per day no matter where the fish is caught - all boats, rec, comm., head etc. 2 per boat per day with only 1 over 50" - no gaffs for landing - landing permits with reporting required - season ends 30 Aug. so get on them before the fall migration - release & citation available all year - no fishing outside the 3 mile limit after 30 June - all other regs start 1 June

Lots of great local speakers at the meeting and only a 5 - 4 vote in favor so many thanks to those that spoke and possibly swayed the vote in our favor

Dave, I am sure Chris values your approval..........NOT!

No gaff for landing??? Who the hell came up with that one? Must have been Mr John Eubanks..." Give Everything a Sporting Chance"
Reminds me of Jerry Clower and the the **** Huntin story..I guess a lot of boats and pier nets are going to get tore up...

If you don't know who Jerry Clower is look it up on YouTube ... "**** huntin story"

Yeah, well that just wouldn't be You!
You do have to comment on everything.
Im sure you are also an EXPERT on Jerry Clower also.
The thread is on Cobia Regs. My addition to the thread ( my thread) was humorous parallel with a Jerry Clower story..
I'm sure you've caught hundreds of Cobia so keep it in that direction.

The 1st Amendment protects my free speech. I have no idea who Jerry Clower is. I have not caught hundreds of Cobia, only about a dozen or so. My comment was directed at the part of your comment where you addressed me, personally. You are the one who "lost direction" and needs to "stay on topic", rather than launching personal attacks at me !

Back "on topic", while not perfect, I do like the idea that being able to take Cobia remains open to recreational fishermen. The "no gaff for landing" part is idiotic and could leave the State open for litigation for gross negligence, if anglers are injured while trying to boat Cobia without a gaff.

Tight Lines !

I was exactly on point .
If you understood mortality rates , maybe you would make a statement like "Gross Negligence" and making the state liable.

I know there are people like you who hope they can win the "I'm an Idiot Lotto" and want to sue someone. Your First Amendmaent protects you from the Government.

I get the No Gaffing, however an experienced fisherman can judge whether if a fish is a Gaffer or not. If it is close go safe and net it.
I just know the damage a large cobia can do when you get it out of the water, Especially in a boat.
