Took the yak out today with a friend and fished around waties on the incoming tide. Didn't do too much, friend got a bite but wasn't able to land the fish. We were mostly using popping corks with a D.O.A under it. Threw out some top water lures and some jigs but no luck. Saw some top water action about the time we were leaving at 5:30. Did see a couple of schools of smaller fish though i'm not sure what they were.

Not bad; you guys definitely found some potential action. Topwater may be at max effectiveness around sunrise and sunset. The most versatile lure in the marsh is probably a paddletail on a 1/4 oz jighead.

PM me for more specifics. Disclaimer: I have only fished the MI Marsh via kayak 6 times, but never skunked-all late fall- mid winter. I probably plan harder than most people would for a weekend fishing trip due to the 10 hr roundtrip drive and actively fish from SC to MD. I study and practice the art of fishing with light tackle lures.
