Hey guys/gals. I'll be coming down to Cherry Grove the last week of June and I'm looking to do some fishing. I've got a 7 ft medium action Berkley lightning rod with a Shimano 2500 reel and I'm looking to get a surf rod as well. Any pointers or tips you could share (on here or via PM) would be appreciated.

June July usually sucks. Best bets are probably flounder, whiting, and pompano. Of course sharks if you leave Horry county. Maybe Spanish and blues early and late in the day.

July does suck, June, depending on water temperatures, can be really good I have found, particularly for flounder.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like I should not count on slaying them.

I watched some John Skinner flounder videos so maybe I will give the flounder a try. I'm assuming sunrise and sunset are the best times to fish. Does the tide overrule that?

Imo flounder are lazy and will eat anytime something comes by... But bring out there early and late won't hurt, especially when it coincides with a tide change.

Yep.. June and July are no the best.. However there are fish there. I would concentrate on the channels fishing around bends for flounder and specs. Use live finger mullet (Again probably hard to find) and fresh SHRIMP
