Morning guys,

So I'm used to hitting up a few fishing spots cross the bridge for catfish (We want to eat them), but it's off and on there, I'm looking for new spots, hopefully closers to home, (Halthrope/Catonsville area) so we don't have to drive an hour and a half every weekend (It's fine some weekends). SO yea, anyone know of some good spots with eating catfish where we can shore fish? Or heck, just good new fishing spots for shore fishing (Pier/Bridge or whatever)

There is supposed to be good catfishing at Piney Run in Sykesville. Maybe not the same pace as the eastern shore rivers but a lot of people target them there. In the summer the weeds get crazy in there but you can probably fish them well this time of year from shore.

Gunpowder River at the end of the boat launch ramp. Some real nice eater channel cats there. Also try the Dundee creek walk in fishing area. It is at the
end of Ebenezer road, just past the marina. There are some respectable channel cats taken out of there, as well. And then there's my marina (Bowley's on Middle River) where I catch them from the end of my pier at night. Belle Grove ponds in Halethorp is another good spot for cats. There's lots of good good catfishing within a hr. from Catonsville. Maybe we should get together sometime. Did you notice my board name - CATMAN!!;)

Sir I've followed you for a while! Thanks for the tips. Going to google a few now. I already marked Dundee creek walk as one, I've never been to bowleys. IS that private?

i wouldnt fish right at the dam you have to many lines and people trying to fish the same spot. either go above the dam up river or below the dam downriver. ive never come home empty there. the fish there are way safer then anything you catch on the potomac. fast moving water up there. i would get a 10-11' pole and cast towards the center and let your line drift a bit there are so many holes that those cats lay in.
