Went down to Caswell Beach last Thursday the 13th.. Had my 2 nephews and my brother in law.. Here is the recap

Thursday - 2pm to 6pm.. Caught Black Drum.. Slot Reds.. Under size reds.. Whiting.. Legal Flounder and short ones too. Total keepers were 22
Friday - 8am to 6pm.. Same as Thursday.. But nephew hauled in his 1st Bull Drum (36") Total Keepers = 17
Saturday - 8:00am to 5 pm.. Cold front pushed thru and biting suffered.. Ended up with 10 keepers. However the morning started off with my other Nephew catching his 1st Bull Drum (32")
Sunday - 6:00am till 1200am.. Slow.. Caught 4 keepers. Went back when tide was coming in at about 4:30.. fished till the sun set.. 4 more keepers.. However my nephew caught another Big Drum (40") and my brother in law caught a (46") drum..

All were caught on FRESH shrimp from Clems Seafood.. All caught on double drop rigs.

Had a Blast!!

Hey Spyder.. never made it to the Candy Shop.. Kind of put that spinning combo off till Christmas time.. However I am definitely going to get up there.. and maybe stop in at Garys BBQ too.

We were fortunate to still be able to go down last week and had a great time.. I even landed a Large Logger Head Turtle that decided to dine out on my Mullet Head I had soaking.. go figure. Like I said the first 2 days were pretty hot.. however the color of the water on Thursday looked like my morning coffee, I'm not talking dirty color that whiting like. I'm talking about the color of strong tea and/or coffee.. It cleared up a lot by the time we left yesterday morning but still dirty.

The hurricane took down a lot of dunes on the west end of Oak Island.. and cut a trough on the east end.. there was probably a 65' drop from high tide to low tide at about a 50 degree angle on the east end where we were fishing at Caswell..

Both piers were open.. Oak Island and Ocean Crest! On Saturday you couldn't have gotten a SARDINE onto Ocean Crest.. (It was packed)

70 percent of the fish were caught on the last 3 hours of the rising tide.. then a lull at high then the rest on the first 2 hours of falling tide.. however.. did cross over at low tide on Saturday to the sand bar and had success with 4 keeper flounder outside the fall of the bar.. however there were a few toothy guys around.. so never went back.. lol

Leaddraft, you sure know how to get someone pumped up and ready to hit the surf! I'll be heading to the coast tomorrow, and can't hardly wait, after hearing this!
